Our clients receive clinical, psychiatric, and holistic care to ensure that the mind, body, and soul is treated and ready for long-term recovery. We are located in the heart of historic Mesa, Arizona (Phoenix Suburb) where we enjoy more than 300 sunny days each year. You will be living on our residential campus, which consists of seven spacious homes. Since having a safe, comfortable, serene environment as you begin your recovery is important, our living quarters are spacious and comfortable, with a home-like feel.
We know that your time is very important. We will briefly collect some initial information from you, answer any questions you may have, and then determine if Canyon Vista is the best program for you.
Our clinical team employs a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities for treating addiction and co-occurring disorders, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing, amongst others. Throughout the therapeutic process, individuals will understand how addiction has impacted every aspect of their lives. Relationships with others, mood, employment, and self-esteem all suffer while in addiction. Our clinical team is here to help you identify these issues while working to overcome and heal from the damage addiction has caused in your life.
Taking care of one’s physical being often falls by the wayside when suffering from addiction. At Canyon Vista, our guests learn to nurture their bodies through a variety of methods, including yoga, time in nature, and exercise. We also offer a properly balanced meal plan designed by our on-staff nutritionist.
Psychiatric and Medical Treatment
At Canyon Vista, we have a team of highly-experienced, dedicated psychiatrists to provide care when needed. Addiction is a complex issue, and at times individuals may also suffer from other mental health issues. We understand that these issues must be treated alongside the addiction. Canyon Vista also has registered nurses on-site at all times to ensure that we are providing the medical care our guests may need while with us.
Support and a sense of community are important for an individual’s long term recovery. At Canyon Vista, our clients will be introduced to a variety of recovery groups, including the 12-steps, the Smart Recovery approach, and others. We expose individuals to a variety of support groups so they can choose which one works best for them. Connecting with others in recovery is vital, and, through this, individuals can begin to build a sober support network that is in place once they transition out of treatment.
Long-term care is important to recovery. Studies indicate that the longer someone receives some sort of treatment, the greater the outcomes are. Our team will work hands-on with you and your family to provide an aftercare plan that will ensure the greatest success. We work with a wide variety of providers not only in Arizona but also across the entire country.
Canyon Vista, we are pleased to offer our residents “Cuisine for Recovery” from award-winning chef Michael Compean. Michael has appeared on the Food Network’s Chopped and has more than 20 years of experience as a celebrated chef. At Canyon Vista, he puts a special focus on foods for recovery, ensuring that clients receive the nutritional balance they need to improve their health and mind. Healthy nutrition is an essential part of the healing process.
We believe recovery is a group effort. The families of addicted loved ones are often wounded during the addiction and need their own time to heal. We offer individual sessions with your loved one and their primary therapist. The goal is to help the family understand addiction and understand how to best support them through the recovery process. We also will provide you with the resources you need to embark on your own journey of healing from your loved one’s addiction.
We will teach you valuable skills that you can apply to your life in recovery. You will learn how to set goals, shop, cook, and deal with daily pressures. Your self-esteem and sense of independence will grow with your newly acquired skills.
Physical activity has been proven to help you to heal faster from your medical conditions, lower your stress levels, and restore your thinking processes. Your activities will include yoga, swimming, working out, dance therapy, music therapy, and even gardening. These will help you learn how to enjoy life once again and develop healthy bonds with others.
Our biweekly equine therapy program allows clients the opportunity to work on communication skills, self-confidence, team building, and leadership while addressing their addiction and mental health in a safe and supportive environment with horses. Licensed clinicians specializing in equine-assisted therapy work with clients to process their thoughts and feelings during the sessions.
Acoustic Therapy: As an addict or an alcoholic, you tend to operate in the fight-or-flight response of your brain, where you have high anxiety and stress. This therapy provides you with a visual, audio, and physical technique that will teach you to breathe to coherence. Coherence helps tell the brain to release dopamine and serotonin. You will feel immediate stress relief, and your sleep with begin to improve.
12 Step Recovery
You will be attending daily 12-Step meetings. Each week we also have a meeting with members of our Canyon Vista alumni group. These meetings provide you with experience, strength, and hope from like-minded people in recovery. You will be able to easily relate with these alumni as they have been in your situation themselves. The 12-Step Program will help you to build a strong foundation for your recovery.
