The fad of CBD has captured the attention and wallets of American creating a multitude of questions. During a recent survey performed with the Harris Poll, Quartz questioned over 2,000 people about their use and thoughts on CBD. The results showed that the majority of the people in the US are aware of CBD. Even though 86% of the survey takers had heard of the cannabis compound, only 26% have ever tried it, and only 7% use it daily.
According to the growing, a San Francisco-based marijuana delivery platform Eaze called CBD “the breakout star of 2018,” noting that the amount of customers buying CBD has doubled from 2018. Some experts have claimed that the US market for hemp-derived CBD could reach $22 billion by 2022.
However, survey takers considered the compound more of a wellness aid rather than a recreational drug like marijuana or alcohol. For Example, only 22% said they used CBD socially. Around 55% of those who have tried CBD claim they used it to relax and another 50% said they were looking for stress and anxiety ease.
The study also showed that over 10% of Americans between 18 and 44 years old use CBD regularly, double the number of regular users of 45. Many believe that it could be linked to the debilitating anxiety millennials are experiencing at twice the average rate in the US.
Over 80% of Americans support its use, while 56% say they recommend using CBD as an alternative for prescription pain killers. Majority of the participants surveyed support using CBD for fighting anxiety and depression.
Despite a large number of supporters, the research is limited. Experts have studied rodents and discovered that CBD helps to alleviate pain when consumed or administered in a topical, although clinical studies in humans still seem to be lacking.
The uncertainty surrounding the effects, and health benefits of CBD might make some potential users concerned, yet, at least based on the in-depth survey data, it appears most are willing to take their chances.
