How to Cope with the Fear of the Ending Quarantine

Many people are getting excited about normalcy resuming, while others are fearful of the ending quarantine. Anxiety occurs when people are uncertain of changing events and unexpected results that may transpire, especially since no permanent solution for COVID-19 is available.

If you are slightly nervous about the ending quarantine during the pandemic, you are not alone. Therefore, you need to understand how to cope with fear while taking care of yourself healthily.

Identify Your Fears

The main reason why people fear the ending quarantine includes: the anxiety of you or a loved one getting infections or even death.

Apart from physical safety, those who loved a slower, simpler lifestyle find the outlook of resuming strenuous, busy activities in life triggering anxiety.

For some, the happiness of work or spending time with the family can create anxiety if the routine changes. Therefore, identifying your fears is crucial when you know them.

Spending some time to figure out your fears is a crucial step in developing a plan. For instance, if you fear getting sick, establish safety maintenance and personal care plans to manage your fears.

Restructure Negative Thoughts

If you realize you have catastrophic thoughts such as constant imaginations of everything failing, you need to reconsider those thoughts. Spending your precious time dwelling on unimportant negative thoughts will only intensify anxiety and fear.

Restructure any negative thoughts by only dwelling on the positive aspects of life. Also, focus on what will work better than your expectations as you do so.

For instance, thinking about the best things that can take the place of the ending quarantine, the families or friends you will meet, the business ideas that will generate more cash, etc. are all positive expectations.

Generally, never allow your mind to wander on life’s negative aspects since you will end up with more fears.

Concentrate Only on What You Can Control

Consistent worry about things you have no control, such as how you will get coronavirus when your colleagues fail to follow guidelines, will only intensify your fears. However, the best way is to rely on things you can control. These include adhering to COVID-19 policies or taking care of yourself during gatherings.

Use Healthy Coping Strategies

If you experience intense anxiety due to the ending quarantine, try to find out various ways of managing your emotions in a better way. However, it is crucial to test out the different coping strategies to understand what works best. For instance, reading a book, watching a comedy, performing breathing exercises, journaling, among others, are all significant ways of managing your anxiety.

Additionally, as you focus on healthy coping strategies, remember that fear increases temptations for drug or alcohol misuse. Therefore, always ensure you are alert of any be unhealthy coping strategies that may entice you.

Besides, while it is okay to utilize coping skills to temporarily divert your thoughts from the pandemic truths, be mindful of anything that establishes difficulties in your life.

If you feel anxious about the ending quarantine, realize that you are not alone. Additionally, if anxiety challenges your optimal performance, consider consulting a mental health professional in any rehab center near you. A professional therapist is the best option that can help you manage your anxious emotions healthily.
